We care more for our health, we want to keep fit,
to breath fresh air and strengthen our body and soul.
So, why don't you join us on our walking paths?
This is how we discover unknown places, stories and customs. It makes us want
to hear some more details, discover another hidden nook and learn more about
the place we are visiting. Would you like to see the beauty of unspoilt environment,
the pine forests, the crystal-clear sea, the life of the fishermen, the birds
singing, the beautiful panoramic views from the peaks you have conquered, which
extend over the whole Ugljan-Pasman archipelago, the neighbouring islands and
the mainland and Velebit mountain in the distance. We would like you, too, to
discover the unique beauty of the island world, which has enchanted more and
more visitors for many years.
According to how demanding they are, the promenades and walking paths
are divided into three groups: sea-promenades, easy and more difficult walking
paths. The sea-promenades are suitable for the widest circle of walkers. They
lead along the island's shores, bays and coves and through hundred-year-old pine
forests.
A walk along the port of Kukljica, which is always full of old fishing boats,
will remind you strongly of the past. The sea-promenade also leads to the Zdrelascica
bay and to the Church of Our Lady of the Snow. Its natural features and the crystal-clear
sea make it a unique natural treasure.
Easy walking paths are also
suitable for the widest circle of walkers, but unlike the sea-promenades, they
cross the wonderful interior of the island. Particularly interesting are the
paths that start from Kukljica and lead through olive groves and a pine forest
to the other side of the island and many hidden bays and beaches Sabusa and
Jelenica. Do not leave out a visit to the little fifteenth-century Church of
St. Jerome in the cove of Kostanj.
More demanding footpaths are
suitable for active walkers, or hikers, for they include steeper parts and
partly pass over more difficult ground. The attractiveness of these paths lies
in the unspoilt environment and the numerous vantage points, which offer magnificent
views over the Zadar archipelago. One of the most impressive can be seen from
the Venetian St. Michael's fortress above Preko (265 m above the sea level)
from which you can have a magnificent view to more than 200 islands of Zadar
archipelago and Kornati islands. You can also choose between cycling, trekking
roads and mountain-bike roads on the Island of Pasman, which will be a pleasant
surprise as well as a trip from Preko using a trekking road to Zeljina.
General instructions
The more difficult footpaths require wearing strong sports shoes or climbing
boots. It is necessary to take water or fruit juice, particularly in the
summer. The hundred-year-old stonewalls (MOCIRE) should never be pulled down.
Should a stone fall down, put it back in its place. The wooden latticed gates
should always be closed behind you. When you come across an animal, behave
naturally, calm down and watch. Follow the signs and do not use the paths
without them. There are many unused footpaths on the island that are not
suitable to take.
